Need to export Opted In date. Any ideas?

Hi all

We are linking our Braze instance to some internal tooling and it is a non-negotiable requirement that we share the opted in date for each user we pass, so they know how old the opt in is. I can see the date exists inside Braze but it does not look like the API passes this date.

Has anyone had a similar problem or know of a workaround?

Thanks!

  • This has been really helpful as I can see the date in Amplitude which gives us something to work with. We can either use that or (long story), we may end up backfilling as custom attribute from Amplitude and record all new optins under the attribute as well.

    I appreciate the help  TedScott

  • How are you setting users to opted-in? Do you set a custom user attribute for the opt-in date?

How did users originally get into Braze?

    Do you have currents setup?

    Do you have snowflake datashare?

      Hey TedScott great questions.

Users will either click 'subscribe' on onboarding emails or in an in-app message. In both cases it triggers liquid to update the email subscription status to 'Opted in', which automatically sets the date.

We don't store the date in a custom attribute. Sounds like this might have been a good idea in hindsight LOL.

We have currents running to Amplitude. We do not have Snowflake.

Are you forwarding subscription status change to Amplitude? If you are and it stores the events, you might be able to get it from there.

The good news is you do not need snowflake to use snowflake datashare (it would have all of your events including subscription status change).

Yes, you could use your subscription event to set a subscribe/unsubscribe user attribute.

Have you reached out to your braze contact maybe they can help or give onetime snowflake access to query?
